Vibration Damping Compound

If you need to treat large surface areas quickly, this is the product for you.

VB-1X is an air curing, liquid damping compound. Its combination of silica-mica, ceramics and an advanced chemical binder greatly reduces structural resonance by converting vibration into “viscous” friction or low level heat. It is purple in color when applied and changes to matte black when dry.

Boost subwoofer output 1 to 1.5 decibels!

VB-1X works fantastic when applied to the interior of speaker and subwoofer enclosures. When the inside of a speaker enclosure is treated with a 1/8" layer of VB-1X, the product will soak into the wood substrate and seal all of the seams and gaps present. Suprisingly, MDF is still a very porous material. When the VB-1X has cured, it maintains a different density than the wood itself effectively creating an impedance mismatch. Don't be confused, the idea is not to damp the thick walls of the enclosure, rather introduce an impedance mismatch. This trick alone will yield an output gain of 1 to 1.5 db!

VB-1X can be applied with the SG-1 spray gun. It can also be applied with a paint brush or roller. While still wet, clean up is easy with soap and water.

Spray Application Tool

The SG-1 spray application tool is a 1 quart, internal mix, siphon feed spray gun designed to deliver high solids vibration damping and thermal control coatings. The SG-1 features an aluminum 1quart cup and 0.5” interior diameter draw tube to ensure maximum material flow. Additional features include delivery rate adjustment, a press forged brass handle and 0.250” nozzle opening. The spray pattern is conical with heavy particle spray. The result is product where you need it with minimal overspray.
